I have always enjoyed working for and with other people in my free time; I have worked in the community in various areas for over 30 years.

When Barbara told me about her commitment to Kenya in 2016, I was immediately impressed. Helping people to help themselves, to create a basis so that the people of Mwandogo can live their lives independently and to provide education for girls in order to avoid forced marriage. I was particularly fascinated by the fact that there is a link between Germany and Mwandogo - Gregory Kasenge.

As a mother of three, I am particularly enthusiastic about the idea of ​​happy children in Mwandogo. Water and food, health, proper clothing, a roof over your head, education, all of these are things that are given here in Germany.

Many children in Mwandogo are half-orphans or have lost their parents due to AIDS or for other reasons. But they are not left alone, they grow up in foster families, which is a heavy financial burden for families, which usually have many children themselves. If they go to school, the children have to help in the household before and after school, in the field or with the little siblings. There is hardly any time to be a child.

My dream is that children can be children again, have a right to education and can start a self-determined and empowered life independently.
