For me, social engagement means working for an idea and putting it into practice. It has always accompanied my life and my family. My main job was here in Düsseldorf for a long time in vocational schools in the health sector and currently I am working in medicine controlling in a medium-sized hospital.
During my first visit to Kenya in 2015, the situation of women and children in the villages made me personally very concerned. I know about the situation here in Germany, but I consider it necessary, especially in the ONE WORLD context, to help those who do not have the same personal and financial opportunities, i.e. where the infrastructural conditions are worse than in Germany. Therefore, Gregory Kasenge´s ideas and my social skills and advocacy of community work led us to start a project in his village, especially to help women and children.
My greatest concern is to give children and in particular young girls the opportunity to get education and to graduate from school and the chance of a career. Moreover, I would like them to experience a loving home, where playing and laughing are also part of daily life.
As CEO at Chanzo Kenya, I want to bring in my commitment, enthusiasm and passion of organising. I also like to work on a project and in a team and to contribute my professional knowledge of health issues, teaching and finance to the structure of the association. Especially together with other volunteers here in Düsseldorf, I particularly enjoy doing informing others about the work that we do in order to achieve the goals for our projects. It is important to me that our cooperation with the Kenyan women is characterized by sustainability and always aims to help people to help themselves.
